Jari Kurri (in English)
Jari Kurri is the best European hockey player in the history of the NHL. He showed the way to European superstars like Teemu Selänne, Jaromir Jagr and Peter Forsberg.
In his best years in the 1980's, Kurri was the best scorer and best defensive forward in the NHL. Kurri's NHL career began in the fall of 1980 with the Edmonton Oilers. The Flying Finn found himself beside Wayne Gretzky a couple months into that first season and they became the most devastating line mates in NHL history.
Jari Kurri has five Stanley Cup rings and has the most points (1,398) and most goals (601) of any European-born players. Twice he was chosen to the NHL's first All Star team, once he led the NHL in regular season goals and four times in the playoffs.
